Renter-Friendly Bedroom Makeover
Most people think a bedroom makeover requires a ton of money and a cart full of products. But Boo, let me tell you — just three key purchases completely transformed my bedroom from cold and bland to cozy and luxe. I'm talking peel and stick wallpaper, a new rug, and curtains. That's it. Keep reading because I'm about to break it all down for you.
Before & After — same room, three products
Let's be honest — my bedroom was not giving. All white walls, gray engineered wood floors, and not a single cozy thing happening. I knew I needed to warm the space up, but I wasn't trying to paint or do anything permanent. That's where my renter-friendly toolkit came in.
I went with a walnut wood peel and stick wallpaper and LUV, the texture on this thing is unreal. I applied it behind the bed to create a nook/cove effect, taking it up and over the headboard bump-out. Instead of a flat accent wall, it created this cozy little cocoon — and it looks completely custom.
A few tips I learned the hard way:

Adding a rug was one of the best decisions I made for this space. Hardwood floors with nothing on them feel cold and loud — not the cozy vibe I was going for.
I first grabbed the 8x10 light brown and beige rug — butter soft, washable, and the colors were calm and pretty. BUT… it was too small. How do you know your rug is too small? If the legs of your nightstands are not sitting on the rug, you sized down too much.
So I upgraded to the 9x12 beige bedroom rug and night and day difference, Boo. Both nightstand feet on the rug, better proportion, and the whole room just started making sense. I also tried the 8x10 brown modern rug — cute, but it was giving more living room than bedroom, so I let it go.
Pro tip: Before laying your rug, put painter's tape on the floor to mark where your bed sits. That way you know exactly where the rug should land before you start moving furniture.

A huge thank you to Two Pages Curtains for sending me these gorgeous pinch pleat curtains. They completely juzzed up the room.
They came pre-trained with pinch pleat hooks already attached — all I had to do was take them out of the box and hang them up. The installation was super easy once I had my measurements, and they have a helpful measuring video on their site so you don't make a mistake. The quality of the fabric is no joke. And the ivory linen against the walnut wallpaper? Chef's kiss. #TwoPagesCurtains #TwoPagesHome

Once the big three were in, I started thinking about the finishing touches — because clutter ain't cute, but the right details make a space sing.
Hardware: The nightstand came with hardware I wouldn't have chosen myself. I'm considering swapping out the handles for a stainless ball pull and maybe adding some curved bubble legs. It's the small stuff that matters, LUV.
Lighting: I'm torn between a table lamp — like this gorgeous wavy shade ceramic base lamp — or a renter-friendly black rechargeable pendant light that mounts without permanent drilling. It has adjustable temperature settings (cool, daylight, warm) and just clicks right on. Modern, but with my black chair in the corner it actually fits the aesthetic.
Headboard: I tried ordering a cloud headboard from Amazon, but it looked too cheap in person. Still on the hunt — I need something that gives cozy but also has under-bed storage. Bouclé might be on its way out… but a velvet bed? Sounds incredible. The search continues!
From white walls and gray floors with zero personality to a warm, textured, cozy bedroom nook — all without painting a single wall. The rug added softness and sound dampening. The peel and stick wallpaper brought in warmth and that custom built-in feel. And the curtains added the final layer of luxury.
I cannot explain how different this room feels. It's still not completely done — we still need a headboard, final lighting, throw pillows, and blankets. But even at this stage, the transformation is real.
The finished room — warm, cozy, and completely renter-friendly
